Would you tell a blind person to squint harder to see better? That’s about the equivalent of telling someone with fibromyalgia to just try harder, like to sleep normal hours or be active or function better. You can’t just ‘try harder’ when the ability isn’t even there—due to real neurological and physiological problems and not a bit due to desire or willpower. That kind of comment is as impossible as it is pointless, and, frankly, it’s as insulting as it is straight up dumb.
